Chapter LII Larceny Michigan Penal Code
Chapter LII of the Michigan Penal Code covers “Larceny.” Larceny is the unlawful taking and carrying away of someone else’s tangible personal property with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of the property. Chapter LII creates several distinct larceny crimes (larceny from the person, larceny of livestock, larceny at a fire, etc.) as well as “retail fraud” (i.e., shoplifting).
